Concern and prayer request

I am a little concerned about Jack, not just his slow/late walking, but I think he has underlying issues that have not been caught yet. I've noticed that he seems to stop breathing for short periods of time when he sleeps, so I'm going to ask the doctor to test him for apnea. I've only noticed it the last few days though, so I'm wondering if it's either because he has a cold right now or if maybe the last seizure did something.

I don't mind at all that he is behind or slower than most, etc. I'm just worried that there is more to it than just being a "late walker". Having all these hidden issues, even though they may not be huge, life-threatening things, is almost worse still because I don't know what is wrong, how bad each "issue" is or how many more we have not discovered yet!

So please continue to pray for our little man. He's doing great at the moment....asking for some Girl Scout cookies we have left. He settled for his water. :) Thanks again, and I will update as soon as we find out anything about his tests!

Quick update on Jack

Jack is doing much better. We were controlling his fever with medicine, but he has not had any since this morning and is doing great. He has an appointment Monday morning (YEA!) for the EEG. I have to get him up early and keep him awake because they want him to be sleepy and hopefully fall asleep during the testing. I'll update again as soon as we get the results!

Update on Jack

A few of my friends/family have asked about Jack, so I thought this might be the easiest way to update! There isn't really much to update about, but I know people are wondering. We really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers!

He had an appointment yesterday afternoon. Basically they are getting the medical records from the hospital and they asked me all the questions about what happened and his medical history, allergies, etc. The nurse practitioner said that they will schedule the MRI and EEG and will give me a call. They would like to do them at the same time, and he may need to be sedated for the MRI. She said they will call me "within a couple of weeks". I was hoping it would be more like Monday, but oh well.

In the meantime we are keeping a very close eye on him and trying to keep his fever down. I'm not sure what he has. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but if he gets a fever, he could have another seizure, so we're just watching him closely. The test results will only take a day or two once he gets the tests done, so I will update again once we know something more. In the meantime, he's doing good for now. Thanks for the prayers!

Yep, it's our turn.

So the boys seemed completely normal, even better than normal, once they finally woke up this morning. They were bouncing off walls and screaming, having a great time! But Jayla was lethargic and nauseous. :( At first I thought (hoped) it was because of the yucky smells that still lingered, but she finally did throw up this afternoon. Then when Jack had a really nasty diaper, I realized that he has had them for about 3 days or so, and DUH, it's probably the same stomach bug!

And now he is clingy. I was really wanting some time alone AT HOME this evening, but the kids are not feeling like going out and Jack wants me instead of Daddy. So, I guess I'll just sit and hold the baby for a while. I love doing that, I was just hoping to get some things done tonight. But they'll always wait until "tomorrow", I guess!

Please pray for our family as we take our turn with this nasty stomach bug! :(

I guess it's finally our turn!

Ugh! I've been up four times now with sick kids, having to clean up vomit and finding another place for them to sleep and blankets and pillows to use. We're running out of all of the above!

First Jonathan came in our room, I guess to tell us he was feeling sick, but he didn't make it in time. We woke up to that horrible sound and smell, but at least he didn't get anything on our bed. Yea.

Next it was Jacob's turn. He tried to get in bed with us after that, but we sent him to the couch instead.

The next thing I know, I awoke to the sound, again, and discovered Jacob was in our bed! Fortunately it didn't get all over the place, but I had to move Jack over next to Daddy and I am having to sleep on the recliner. I gave Jacob a quick bath and some new clothes and blankets and put him back on the couch.

So then Jacob was really thirsty (I would be too!), so who knows how much water he drank right before it all came back up! So up again, and now he is sleeping on the floor.

I have a LOT of washing to do tomorrow.

The thing about this though is that I'm 99.9% sure it is not a stomach virus like many have been getting. I'm pretty sure it was what they ate right before bed because they were the only ones who had some. They both ate broccoli with ranch dressing, and let's just say there was plenty of evidence to point to that as the culprit! YUCK! So maybe it was bad and I didn't realize it, but I'm not sure if it was the broccoli or the ranch. I guess they both get tossed!

But anyway, now that I have grossed everyone out, I'm going to try once again to go back to sleep. Jacob said he was hungry and thirsty, but I told him he couldn't have anything right now or he'll throw it up again. He just said,"Oh." :) Maybe it's a good sign that he wants something, but I am not taking a chance again! I want at least a couple hours of uninterrupted sleep tonight before I spend all day doing laundry!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

We've had an interesting Thanksgiving day so far. All is good now, but early, early this morning Jack had another seizure! :( I was still awake, finishing up after baking some yummy Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies....my favorite! I was about to head to bed when Jack woke up SCREAMING! I ran to check on him. He was still laying face-down, unable to move, and he had a fever. We just put 2 and 2 together and figured out he must have had another seizure.

So I had to mentally prepare for a long night and very little sleep. :) We were at the ER from about 2am until 5:15 or so, and he didn't get back to sleep until 4:45, just before we checked out, because there were just too many distractions. He has had a cold this past week too, but I thought he was nearly over it when he just developed this nasty cough that sounds really painful. :( So the diagnosis is Acute Bronchitis with a possible (because we didn't actually see it) febrile seizure. He didn't really seem too concerned about this being his 2nd seizure, I guess because it was again caused by a fast-rising temperature. If he hadn't had a fever, they would be much more concerned, I guess.

So we have decided to stay home today. We were a little bummed about it, but it's okay. We're still on for our own Thanksgiving dinner here at our house tomorrow with my mom. We're really looking forward to that! Afterward we plan to decorate for Christmas.

In the meantime, we will just bum around the house, watch football and cartoons, play games, eat those yummy cookies that I was going to take today......and just relax! It has been a trying year for our family, but we still have a lot to be thankful for! God is good!

A moment in our lives

Right now we have just finished up breakfast.

Jayla isn't feeling too well, so she is laying down and watching cartoons. She ate breakfast, so I guess that's a good sign!

Jacob is building tracks and bridges with his train tracks. He has had them all over the living room this week. Myles showed him how to use the couch cushions to support a track and build a bridge from the couch to the cushions, so now he uses anything and everything he can find to support a bridge, and they go all around the room!

Jonathan is reading. He has been reading a LOT lately, mostly nature books. He just told me all about how gravity works and about mass. I didn't realize he knew so much about that stuff! LOL! He is also constantly telling me about some kind of animal, where they live, what they eat, etc.

Jack is drumming with a piece of track and standing by the heater (no worries, it is not hot to the touch!). He giggles when he first gets next to it. :) So now we have all four of them fighting over 2 heaters! (sigh) He is also drumming ON Noah's (the turtle) aquarium. He wants to get a closer look but I have it guarded so he won't touch the light. It is indeed hot! He can't reach it though. :)

So that is our little moment of our day. Next we are about to do some cleanup, but I also promised Jacob he could play computer games. If I have time later today, we may make some play-dough. That's always a big hit! I just need to find that "perfect" recipe and the icing coloring.....

Oh, great.

We're about to leave for our vacation soon, so we are trying to get a lot done this week. Jonathan is NOT a good helper around the house, unfortunately, so I thought that when he started whining and telling me he felt bad that he was just trying to get out of helping. (There have been a couple of cartoons on recently where the kids fake being sick so they can stay home from school. Gee, thanks for giving him that idea.)

First he told me he wasn't feeling well, then his tummy hurt, then he finally said he thought he had a fever. I was about fed up with it but thought to myself that if he really is sick and I just keep blowing him off, I would really feel bad. So I humored him and felt his head. He was burning up! I took his temp with a thermometer and it was 101.6, so I gave him some Tylenol.

So here  we are, about to leave on vacation, and Jonathan has a fever! These things usually only last 1 or 2 days, so he will probably feel fine by the time we leave, but if it's contageous, we could all have it while we are ON vacation! *GROAN*

Please pray for us; for our health, safe travels, great family memories, etc. If I don't get a chance to post again before we leave, I assure you I will have PLENTY to write about when we get home!

Oh, something cute Jacob said yesterday that I wanted to share. I was getting them all loaded up in the van to go to AWANAS and Myles was giving each of them one bar of his KitKat candy bar. He didn't say anything about it, he just gave it to them one at a time when they least expected it. (He likes to surprise them that way.) He gave one to Jacob and as we were closing the doors about to drive away, Jacob said "That was so thoughtful of Daddy!" It was sweet. He's finally just getting to where we can really understand almost everything he says and now he's using big words like that. :) A few weeks ago he was telling me about a dragon in a cartoon that was a "friendly dragon". The way he says 'friendly' was just too cute. I know, it's not as cute to everyone else, but I just had to put it on the blog! :)
